Attractions

An attraction draws you in before you even know what’s entirety there.

What attractions have been in our city the longest?  There are long standing institutions with a history of community engagement, they entertain and educate their guests.  First one to come to many people’s mind is the Zoo, and ours is great.  It’s been there since 1929, with 130 species and it’s open everyday except Christmas day.

You’ve been to the Zoo enough, or animals aren’t your thing.  Well Calgary has so many other attractions, there’s so much to see and do.  Have you been to our Military Museum?  It houses exhibits from the Navy, Army and Air Force.  Heritage Park is a favorite of mine, it’s a step back in time, complete with a steam locomotive and a paddlewheeler.

Don’t forget about the Glenbow Museum, the Telus Spark Science Centre.  The kids will love Calaway Park. How about the new Studio Bell, home of the national music centre.  Have you been to Winsport and the Sport’s hall of Fame.  There are so many national caliber attractions that it’s hard to find time to see them all.

Perhaps your tastes take you to the classics.  Then how about the symphony?  The Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra needs to be experienced.  If it’s not your thing take in one of their pop performances.  The Alberta Ballet has genre fusing shows and musical collaborations, next year is a production with the Music of The Tragically Hip.  Live theatre must be experienced and we have many, start with or work up to “Alberta Theatre Projects” and “Theatre Calgary”.

Time to go, they’re always there, but that’s not a reason to put it off.
